Mountain Brook Junior High, originally constructed in 1956, had not had a major addition since 1999. This current project includes a new three-story 60,000SF addition for the main entrance and 18 new classrooms and an ICC-500 storm shelter. Also included will be renovations to the existing locker rooms and expansions of the cafeteria and auditorium. The school also will receive a new defining feature with a pitched roof and turret installed over the media center. Total construction cost was $14.4 million, with M/P/FP systems at $1.6 million.
